Dianjun Fang

As one of the first logistics pioneers in China, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dianjun Fang began his academic career at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (Fraunhofer IML) in 1988. He has worked in industrial research for many well-known companies, including Audi, BMW, Bosch, Bayer, Siemens, and VW. In 1995, he received his doctorate from TU Dortmund University with a thesis on "Development of a knowledge-based assistance system for the planning of warehouse systems." As a project manager, Prof. Fang has led numerous industrial projects in China for Fraunhofer IML, including projects for Huawei, Haier, Foton, Cummins, JD, China Tobacco, Damon, and i-COW.

In 2010, Prof. Fang was appointed Professor of Technical Logistics at Tongji University in Shanghai. Until 2021 he headed the Chair of Technical Logistics. Since 2022, he has held the Chair of Smart Engineering. He supports German-Chinese cooperation through numerous honorary roles, including Representative of Fraunhofer IML in China, Chairperson of the Shanghai Regional Group of the German Logistics Association (BVL), Mercator Fellow of the Graduate School at TU Dortmund University, Advisory Board Member of Catena-X, and Director of the German-Chinese Institute for Applied Research and Promotion.
