At a hackathon, specialists from different technical fields come together to cooperatively work on a problem situation. The first BVL-Hackathon takes place during the 34th International Supply Chain Conference. Corporate teams compete for the best programming solution of a data-driven problem.
Who will participate?
Data Scientists and big data experts in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning will participate. The problem is handled by teams of two to five people. Each company was only allowed to nominate one team. The nomination of a team was open to all companies participating in the In-ternational Supply Chain Conference, regardless of the sector (logistics service provider, shipper, IT, consulting, etc.). BASF as host will not participate in the hackathon.
What is the task?
The exact problem is only published on the day of the hackathon. Each participant has to bring an own laptop with a charging cable, all other required resources are provided. The task is carefully selected, so that none of the companies participating in the International Supply Chain Conference will gain an advantage. The data set used has no relation to logistics, neither any direct relation-ship to other business processes. It is therefore not amendatory to have experts for certain busi-ness processes in the team. The team should be made up from technical experts with knowledge on big data, machine learning and python / R.
What to win?
The prize is € 10,000 for the winner's team. It is supported by BASF.
What about some help and mentoring?
The Hackathon is supervised by data analysts from BASF.
