Your personal data is processed in order to enable you to attend a virtual event funded by our sponsors and partners. By registering for the event, you agree to the event terms and conditions.
Your personal data is processed in compliance with the applicable statutory regulations, in particular the European General Data Protection Regulation GDPR and the German Data Protection Act (BDSG).
The personal data we process is the data submitted by you when registering for the virtual event. In addition, we also collect data during the event. We do not collect data from other sources.
To attend the event, you need to submit the following details when registering:
During the event, we collect certain use data that we analyse for statistical purposes.
Your personal data is processed in compliance with the following regulations:
The submission of personal data is always voluntary, as attending the virtual event sponsored through advertising is also voluntary. However, it is not possible to attend without submitting certain personal data, for several reasons.
From a technical point of view, holding a virtual event is only possible, if personal data can be processed. Similar to events that you attend in person, virtual events are networking opportunities where participants cannot remain anonymous.
To attend our physical events, participants have to pay a substantial fee to attend. In contrast, this virtual event is free of charge to all participants, as it is funded entirely by our partners and sponsors. While you will not be asked to pay a fee to attend, our partners and sponsors request you to submit certain personal data that they will then use for marketing purposes.
Within our organisation, only persons who need your personal data in order to perform specific tasks in connection with the organisation and holding of the virtual event have access to your data. The transfer of your personal data to other organisations is done in strict compliance with the relevant statutory regulations, in particular GDPR and BDSG
We might transfer personal data to:
Additional information on data privacy is available from these partners and sponsors.
The virtual event takes place as a web stream. The operator of the streaming platform is grip. For data privacy information from grip, visit https://grip.events.
To manage and run the technology behind the virtual event, the platform operator needs to compile datasets containing the first name, surname, company, function and e-mail address of every participant. With the exception of the e-mail address, this information is used to create individual user profiles. To enable you to access the stream, the service provider will send you your login details by email.
The funding partners and sponsors are given the name, company, function and contact details of all participants who, during the event, have visited the microsite of a company. These microsites with web pages, chat functions, video clips, presentations and
other content serve as a virtual trade fair stand of our exhibitors.
After the virtual event, all partners and sponsors receive the personal data of a certain number of participants. The number of such datasets they receive depends on the package they have purchased; the datasets are selected at random.
With regard to use data, only the number of participants in the virtual event is disclosed to third parties, and all data is anonymized. For the evaluation of the event, we perform certain statistical analyses for internal use.
The streaming platform is hosted on servers in the Republic of Ireland, which is an EU member state. Transfer of personal data to a third country might occur, if a partner or sponsor is based in a country outside the EU or EEA.
After the virtual event, your personal data is processed for the purpose for which it has been obtained and in accordance with the existing membership of the affiliated companies. After the statistical analyses of the event have been completed, your use data is deleted, unless we are obliged by law to store your data for a statutory retention period, if the data is required for the assertion of legal claims, defence in relation to legal disputes or if you have consented to its retention for a longer period of time.
Our partners and sponsors are equally subject to the terms of the GDPR and must therefore also delete your data, should it no longer be required. For details, please refer to the data privacy information of the respective companies.
Under GDPR, you, as the data subject, have the following rights:
As the processing of your personal data is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent does not extend to the transfer of data to our partners and sponsors, as this is done under a different contract. You have however the right to contact our partners and sponsors directly to withdraw your consent to the use of your personal data for marketing purposes through electronic channels (e.g. e-mail).
You are entitled to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data. In such a case, we shall no longer process your personal data unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for its processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or need your data for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
If you wish to make use of any of your rights, please contact us or our data protection officer (for contact details, see above).
To attend the virtual event, you must submit certain personal data as specified in the event terms and conditions. You cannot attend without submitting this information.
The data collected from persons attending the virtual event is compiled to create user profiles in order to determine what these persons are particularly interested in. We do not combine this data with data from other sources.
We do not use automated decision making that directly affects participants in the event.
Right to object to profiling
According to Article 21 GDPR, you have the right to object to the use of your data for profiling (see also "What are your rights in connection with data privacy?"). Should you object, we shall no longer process your personal data, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for its processing which override the interests, rights and freedoms of you as the data subject. Such compelling legitimate grounds are given by the terms and conditions of the event, and in particular by the fact that participation is free, while the event is normally only open to fee-paying customers.
Right to object to the use of personal data for direct marketing
You have the right to object to the use of your personal data for direct marketing activities by us or our partners and sponsors. In this case, we will not use your personal data for such purposes, even as we would consider this a fair and legitimate compensation for the free attendance of the event. To object to the use of your personal data for direct marketing, you must notify the respective direct marketing partner directly.
