During the transport logistic China in Shanghai, BVL is staging two special-topic forums outlining the challenges currently faced by companies in China.
Lean Logistics Management
Within any company, there are a number of areas in the supply chain where wastage of time, costs or stocks can be eliminated. Successful lean logistics management requires companies to examine processes in these areas in depth in order to identify possible wastage. The resulting findings then pave the way for the optimisation of the material flow along the supply chain in terms of stability and efficiency. In warehousing processes, for example, storage areas can be kept to a minimum and costs cut through the systematic reduction of unnecessary stocks.
Low Carbon Practices in Supply Chains
In response to the greater awareness for environmental concerns among the public at large, modern organisations are increasingly called upon to measure the ecological footprint of their products and processes. While the ecological and political benefi ts of reduced CO2 emissions are obvious, the advantages this generates for companies are not always readily apparent at first sight. Initial evaluations have shown, however, that ecological improvements in the supply chain positively impact the end result. The focus is therefore on drivers, challenges, benefits and best practice strategies of low-carbon practices in supply chains.
