Program of the Conference
The conference program consisted of presentations from industrial representatives, which were complemented by a look at the latest scientific developments. The network of national associations from guest countries Brazil, China, India, Russia and the USA was involved in designing the program.
In addition to prominent major infrastructure projects and specific individual areas of expertise and interest relating to the guest countries, the conference highlighted the use of modern technologies as well as developments in the field of intralogistics. Visiting speakers from the guest countries had every opportunity to get involved in discussions in Hannover during eight thematic and country-specific sessions, as well as a panel discussion looking at “Sustainability in Intralogistics”.
The opening day of the conference focused on the contribution made by intralogistics to the sustainable design of entire supply chains. The use of modern IT systems to support the organizational and controlling function of logistics processes was discussed, as well as the development of new energy-efficient technologies for the environmentally-friendly operation of intralogistics systems. What impact do the adaptation and linking of such systems have on the ecologically sustainable and economical provision of continuous production and manufacturing processes? How can distribution networks be adapted to work with intralogistics processes?
In addition to the upgrading and expansion in capacity of existing warehousing and distribution centers, another key issue at the conference was how the latest developments in information technology can enable greater flexibility for intralogistics processes. Technical systems such as conveyor systems, storage systems and order picking systems are static in nature; the key is to bridge the gap between variable production concepts, increasing data volumes and relatively inflexible intralogistics systems that are demanding in terms of acquisition, operation and maintenance.
